Enchanted Impala

What can I say, other than that this was taken in the magical woodlands of Mana Pools?
I should be heading back there in late July to host a group of photographers and introduce them to this epic location.

I think too often we as wildlife photographers (and I'm guilty of it too!) chase specific subjects and outright "action" more than we chase great light and ethereal beauty in our image-making...

Techs:
Nikon D3s
Nikkor 500mm f4 VR-II
f5.6 | 1/400 SS | ISO-1100

A beautiful image.  A nice way to portray a beautiful, though common, sight in the bush.

Magical is right...and so is your all-too-true verdict on priorities for most of us. Every time I get a really exceptional image it's because I chased the light first. Top-shelf stuff, Morkel!

Love the two-toned branches, the highlighted dots in the BG (insects?), and the attentive antelope. Just a lovely scene, Morkel!

Cheers,

Hisham.

Hey Morkel,

You know this one works really well for me. I agree with your comments about light and ethereal beauty and find myself singing that song a lot! enlightened (I currently have a print exhibition running in a Canadian city simply called "Animalscapes" which is right up that alley!).

Cheers...
