Reed Rider

I was in a prone position at the edge of a pond waiting on a Mallard pair to swim my way when the wind shifted and alerted them to my presence. Luckily the dragonflies did not seem to mind me laying there and were active in the tall reeds. I liked this shot because of the upward POV with the sky background and the simple and clean lines of the reeds. Hand held, 70% of full frame.
I believe this to be a Widow Skimmer but a confirmed ID would be appreciated.

I like this composition very much Mike. I suppose it would also make a good vertical image with just the single reed but this looks more natural and you've given it more space and that works better. The dragonfly looks sharp throughout, the high shutter speed even freezing the wing movement. I'm glad you used a very simple sky because it shows up the subjects of the image to good effect. Graham

Outstanding DF image, Mike. Beautiful light and colors. The reeds have exceptionally nice form and color, and the bg is superb as well. devil

MIke, the clean lines of the leaves (look like young cattails) and the clean colorful background really work well here.  I'm also enjoying the glow in the wings of the df (yes, it's a male Widow Skimmer).

The composition works well and there is some nice detail in the larger version. The BG works well with the blue to offset the green of the leaves and reds of the DF. crying
