Petriified Forest NP

One of our last stops on our southwest tour in the fall was the Petrified Forest. Talk about a target rich environment for abstracts! All comments welcome. >=))>

I was wondering if this was petrified wood when is first opened this.  Yeah, there's a lot of opportunity there.  Nice shot.

I've not been to this location in 50 years, wish I could go back. Thanks for the revisit with the small slice from this neat wonderful place, Bill.
Love the glow of this scene. A very nice abstract.....laugh

Excellent abstract, Bill.  I've been there only once, a little far away for me, but should go back for images like this.

Cool and unique post in Flora, Bill. Makes a colorful abstract. Question: is petrified wood flora or mineral? It was once flora, obviously, which is certainly good enough for posting this here, and I ask this only out of curiosity. I googled it, and I'm still unsure!

Bill, is there any reference as to what species this was? Cool abstract, anyway!laugh

Phil: If I remember correctly it was probably some kind of Cypress. This area was very swampy in prehistoric times. There are also dinosaur fossils in the area too. . Bill

This is fascinating Bill!  I love the rich, warm and rusty colors.  If one didn't know any different, this could just as easily have been a close up of a rusty old side panel of a Model T truck, or at least some old rusted metal.

Great find, and great job isolating this piece.

Nice lines and colors Bill.  A very nice abstract for sure.  Have you looked into Tony Kuyper's luminosity mask?  I wonder how that would work on this shot (not that it would need much!)?
