Shadow Dancing

This hawk was going in for a landing on the tin roof.  It appears he has been practicing this graceful dance pose for quite some time.  He preferred the roof to the trees surrounding the building, it was probably warm.  I felt he was out of his element on the roof vs the trees.  But a Hawk is a Hawk is a Hawk and can dance where ever s/he pleases.

Nice sharp image and I like the pose and shadow.  You did well with the harsh lighting conditions. The roof is not the perfect background but it is what it is.  What about cropping the dark area on the bottom to reduce the impact of the roof?  Just a thought.

Elizabeth,
Great timing on this hawk and the title is perfect. You handled the harsh sun light very well and the detail is excellent with a great look at the eye. The determination in the face of the Hawk is impressive with the talons having the look of a modern dancer. The shadow however is very unique and takes this image to the next level in my opinion. The image does look a bit tilted to me and would benefit from some CW rotation. You did not mention any crop factor but if this were mine, I would give more room to the top and right as the Hawk feels tight in the frame to me. Minor tweaks on a very nice image.
Congratulations on the WP . . .  devil

Elizabeth: an unusual background, but you have to take the pix where they are. The perfect shadow is unique and could only have come from a situation like this. Would have done the same thing. Congrats! Richard
