A Winter's Feast

This photo was taken while on my way to shoot some landscapes around the park and river after some fresh snow.
The Mallard had just come from below the waters surface with the frog in his mouth as he began to make like a 'Great White' as he began to shake it violently. I assume to kill or stun it enough to swallow it. He actually continued to shake it for a few more minutes before he was able to swallow it.

I had the Tiffen on at its minimum setting just to take the glare off the ice and snow.

Any thoughts or comments welcomed.

Very cool action, Jim.  I'm guessing that the camera settings were already set for landscape shots as they're not particularly suitable ofr action images.  The motion blur on the head and frog actually adds to the image, but a little more shutter speed would have made the body a lot crisper.

Certainly an interesting moment.  Your camera settings did not help you here.  1/100 was just not fast enough to pull this off.  If you could have changed your aperture to f/5.6 you would have had 1/400 and that would have helped.  Pushing the ISO to 400 would have given you 1/1600 and the image would have been much sharper with the motion.  Sounds like you had a few minutes with this subject from your description.
