Wood Duck Portrait

Hi Everyone! Wood Ducks are my very favourite ducks but I hardly ever get to see them where we live. I was super excited when my dad told me we were going out for a day photographing Wood Ducks and Green-Winged Teals while we were on our trip to BC last spring. I got this picture on the same morning as my "Goose Attack" picture that got awarded in WPY this year and it was one of my favourite days photographing birds ever.

Very nice work on the whites and blacks. They are always difficult to properly expose. There's a bit of glare off the top of the bill. Easily fixed. A very nice portrait of this handsome drake.

A lovely portrait, Josiah, with a great job of exposure on a difficult subject.  Since you were on a tripod, a bit more dof might have been nice, but I don't know how active the duck was, so it may not have been possible.  Nicely done.

Well done Josiah, they are beautiful ducks and you handled the exposure very well. I love their eyes. Nice work!
