Abby in the Snow: WC#719

Hello All! crying It's been some time since I last posted a photo but I couldn't resist this one.

My doggie, Abby.  Truly my best little friend in her element - she's an English Springer Spaniel (9-year-old Field Springer).  I almost lost her a year ago to immune-mediated thrombocytopenia (ITP).  I know that's a mouthful; it was also quite the ordeal.  It took more than a year but she's finally off the meds.  I'm hoping she'll be around to walk the trails with me for a few years yet.

Always a challenge to get proper exposure in the the bright snow; especially with her dark face.

The usual suspects: 1Dx; EF 70-200 f/2.8L IS@200mm & f/5.6; 1/2,000; ISO 1000.

Cheers!  cool

At the risk of sounding too much like a social media comment: Love it!

Great look at the intense expression, love the frosted face, great texture in the snow and just an overall pleasing action shot!

Glad to hear Abby's doing better! My dad had a Springer when I was born and they've always had a soft spot for me. Love their character and drive when in the field. I hope you have many more years with her as well.

what a fun shot, Derrick!  It looks like you nailed the exposure to me.  Excellent detail in the dark fur without loosing the texture in the snow.  Abby looks like she's having a great time!

The intense look, leg-in-stride, snowy setting and frosty fur all convey a dog having a ton of fun in the snow.

I'm very happy to hear she is now doing fine!

Abby sure does look like she's having a great time.  Love the "happy" look and the sprinkling of snow on her head.  Best wishes in her recovery.  Glad you "dropped in", Derrick.

These running-to-the-camera shots are tough, even with the ID-X's ability to hold focus; very nicely done. And a very pretty girl.
