Catching sunsets has been a mixed bag this past few weeks.  Some nights the sunset is powerful and after the sun sets we get intense reds.  I have been to Heisler the past two nights and was skunked during the "after the sun goes down" portion of the evening, but this shot seems to talk to me.  I was shooting with my D800 on the tripod and ball head with a 16-35 lens, and switched up with the D4 in the "Cotton carrier".

Nikon D4  Nikkor 24-120  24mm  ISO100  1/50  f/13  White Balance Auto  RAW  Processed in LightroomCC2015, PhotoshopCC2015, NIK and TK.

Thank you for your suggestions and feedback.

Beautiful Patrick, love the pattern that the intense sun has on the horizon.  Very nice seascape.  The blues look a little strong in the fore water but I'm not on a reliable screen right now.  There is a small bit of white foam left center that I would clone.  Small nits on a wonderful image.

Very nice seaside sunset image with fine comp.  Much better in large detailed image.  I would also dial down the blue saturation a bit.

Patrick,

Gorgeous sunset and seascape.  Fantastic sky and I really like the balance and arrangement of elements like between the rocks and surf.

I realize it's sunset, but it seems just a tad dark for me, perhaps no more than 1/2 stop.  I also think the saturation is just a tad high, but for me it's mostly the cyan in the white foam in the surf.  The blue/cyan is just a little strong for my tastes.

A couple minor tweaks and this will be killer.

Patrick,
Beautiful seascape. You managed the dynamic range very well. Processing looks great. Only suggestion might be to try to lighten/reduce saturation slightly in the layer of blue sky at the top of the frame.

Great composition and detail, Patrick. I would lower saturation throughout, but that is a personal taste.

Patrick, this is a great looking sunset.  I especially like your catch of the light on the foreground rocks.  The action in the water works well also.  The colors (especially the blues) seem oversaturated to me.

A bit too saturated for me, but a very nice scene nevertheless! Great cloud formations.

Stunning location here - the sunset is a great compliment to this landscape.  I think overall, as others have noted, it could be brightened up a touch to pull out some more detail in the rocks

This is really nice, with an incredible sky. My only suggestions are to brighten the sky a little more, and reduce blue/cyan in the foreground surf and shadows.
