The Proposal of Change
by Ryan Shain
Hi NPN,
I am becoming a married man on this upcoming Friday, I am working on a video project for real estate investment, I am starting up my business for real estate investment, and I am learning real estate investment, so I have a lot going on this year, and for many years to come, lol. I say all of this this because I proposed to my soon to be wife in this exact location back in October of 2014, and we were to be married this upcoming September, but life happened, as it always does, and we are being married on the 15 of January. I am reflecting on a new direction in many ways in 2016, and this image reminds of the change that is coming. This image is captured at Cave point County Park in the Door County area of Wisconsin.
I will do my best to participate on here this year, but I may be absent for months at time. Thank you again for all of your thoughts and wonderful ideas to improve my passion in photography.

I think shoreline images like this one here are one of THE most difficult scenes to make successful compositions. and I say that because I think you've done a stellar job with this one. This is perfectly balanced; from the blue, puffy-cloud sky balancing with the rock shelf foreground (and leaves) and then the autumn trees balanced with the evergreens and the wave action and rugged rocky shoreline. They're all playing wonderfully together.
This is a fine tribute and one you will remember forever. Congrats and best of luck!

Congrats on your wedding in a couple of days!! All the best to you and in your new ventures and business. Stay in touch and I still want to go shoot with you one day. Take care! Nick
What a lovely look along this shoreline. You've got a great collection of textures and colors between the rocks, the trees, the water, and the sky. There's also a nice sense that this is a dynamic environment due to the wave action. A beautiful image.
Congrats and best wishes. Nothing better to spark creativity than to have an emotional connection to the places we photograph.
This is a nice composition. The breakdown of space into large triangles always works well in vertical images. I'm curious why you took the shoreline to almost the edge of the frame and stopped right there. But when I do a left crop it does weaken the image. I don't know what to suggest for this image. The sky looks a bit oversaturated from my perspective but that's just me. Thanks for sharing.

Don't be a total stranger and good luck in all of your endeavors starting today.... your bride's a lucky gal! I just spent my 36th anniversary with my wife at Point Reyes. A lot of fun walking in the rain!
ETA: Just noticed this garnered by 1000th comment. Have a super day, Mr. and Mrs. Shain!
