Gary,

Wouldn't those be petrified dunes?  enlightened  Although I can imagine the color version could be awesome.... the striking contrast  here between the lighted "dune" and the uniformed, darker and diffused background makes for a terrific b&w.  The details and micro-contrast in the larger version are a must see.

No nits and nothing to suggest or be critical of here.  An excellent b&w rendition.  Well done.

The detail and textures in the full resolution image are a real treat. I always look forward to your B&W, Gary - you manage to give them a very appealing illumination. This Navajo sandstone (I guess) outcrop i sno exception - nicely done!

Man, getting a grip on the scale of this scene is difficult, despite all the bushes! And that is a very good thing. The main dune looks perfect with the light, but equally important for me is the background which has the right amount of detail to not be distracting but still be interesting to look at. Nice job!

Gary,
This is excellent. Well composed, beautiful and dramatic B&W rendition. The larger version has nice details to hold my interest. Good work.

Gary, I sure enjoyed looking at your larger version of this! I really like the contrast in this and it looks like you caught the light just right. The background also works very well here.

This is real nice, Gary. I don't see any dunes, but the eyes aren't what they used to be. sad   I like the look of the textures and tones.

Looks like the perfect situation for BW.  The easily viewed details in the distance (especially the large version) complete the shot for me. The rock really pops off the screen.Processing is well done.  You've pulled out the most in this I think.

Gary, you caught some fine light here, with the dune and foreground so nicely sidelit.  I'm enjoying the subtle view of the higher ridge in the the background and all of the petrified dune textures in the subject that are shown off so well in this light.

Your B&W's are always a treat and this one is no exception, Gary. The light on the FG rock formation is stunning as are the range of tones and textures in the scene. Beautiful work.

Your command of black and white, Gary, is simply jaw dropping and this image is no exception.  The light against dark, and the amazing textures in the rock make this a stunning image.  The contrasts in the rock, the lines, details, textures in the rock have a lithographic feel to them that I personnally feel is fantastic.  Superb work.

Texturally impressive in BW.  Superb light with a BG that makes the subject pop.  A very nice treatment of your "back yard".

Lovely light on this enormous slab of stone. The interplay between light and dark is marvelous. Would like to see just a bit more sharpness in those light bushes at the base of the rock. They're merging a bit into one another.

Hi Gary,

This image is a beautiful example of a black and white done so very well. The contrast between the light and shadow really emphasize the details and shape of the Dune.

This is just some excellent photography
