Here's another image I took while trekking in the Annapurna sanctuary. During the trip I was fortunate to get some great lighting conditions on several evenings. The prominent peak in the center is Machapuchare "fishtail". It is a sacred peak to the Nepali and has never been summited. Appreciate any comments/suggestions. Thanks

This is another good one, Dave.  I really like the lignt  on the peak and the cool tones of the sky.  The motion in the clouds  amd the fog in the valley adds wonderfully to the interesting juxtaposition of extreme terrain and serene mood.

As for suggestions, you could play with cropping a tish off the top?  Maybe?  I like it as is too.

Sounds like it was a great trip!

The light on the peaks is sublime, and is beautifully set against the valley fog. Aptly named peak!!

No nits here.  Really nice light and contrast with the FG & BG.

Simple strong composition of a dramatic subject, you can't really ask for more.  Great light.

Dave, you caught some lovely light here.  I like how the highest peaks are nicely lit and the subtle echo of lit clouds behind them.  In the larger version, there enough detail in the valley and the shoulder in the foreground so that they contribute nicely.

I am surprised to see your exposure time, because this looked like a long exposure to me. I really like the ethereal feeling of the mist/clouds in combination with the warm light on the mountains.

Very well done.  Great light.  Superb detail in shadows.  Large view is impressive.  Would it be offensive to climb it?

Wonderful range of tones, topped by that golden glow from the peaks.  Extraordinary feeling of stillness. devil

The rugged mountains in the middle and the soft forms of the clouds above and fog below make a nice contrast. This, together with the beautiful lighting puts the focus on the peaks. You skilfully caught the right moment.

"would it be offensive to climb"?

Yes, as far as I understand, climbing Machapuchare is prohibited.

Wow, what amazing light. The clouds really give a sense of movement vs the monolith. Almost like flags waving above the mountain.

What really strikes me about this image is the jagged, hard lines of the peaks combined with the softness of the rest of the image. It packs a wonderful, striking punch. Very nice color as well. Great capture!

Dave,

Absolutely sublime light on the peaks and the literal ghost-like clouds are just incredible!  I don't think this has been mentioned, but the weight of the foreground ridge in the lower left throws this a bit off balance - at least for me.  No doubt your viewing options were limited, so can't fault you for that, but if it were mine I might consider cropping from the bottom to just above the long line of fog/clouds at the bottom; this would reduce the heaviness of the ridge/mountain on the left.  After all, the story is all about the light on the peaks and those mystical clouds.

I can only imagine being there....

I am glad I came back to this as I thought I had already left a comment, Dave. The light on the peak is truely magical and the mist flowing in between the peaks really sets the mood here for me. I really like the graceful shape of that cloud on the left side. Beautiful work.

You indeed caught some nicely colored light on the peaks.  My only suggestions might be to add just a little mid-tone contrast and maybe crop a small bit off the top.

Good day Dave,

The atmosphere captured here is wonderful. The foggy foreground creates a beautiful mood with the gorgeous light on the peaks and in the sky.

Some really sweet work Dave
