Ice Bubble Abstract II

It's starting to thaw out a little today, though we had some freezing rain this morning.  The ice in the birdbath hasn't thawed much, so after feeding birds this afternoon, I took a few more shots.  Where I'd added hot water to create a pocket for the birds to use had some nice big bubbles to play with.

I had been planning on posting another from my previous session, but I was processing a few from today and started playing with the sliders in Topaz Detail.  I really cranked up the large and medium detail sliders and even had quite a bit on the small slider for this image.  I really liked the effect.

5D3, 180mm f3.5 macro, tripod & cable release, f/32, 1.6 sec, iso 200, aperture priority, pattern metering.  Processrd in LR5 & CS6.  Cropped from the left to a square format.  Taken this afternoon at 1:21 under overcast skies.

I really appreciate all the feedback you provided on my last post and I look forward to hearing what you think of this one.

Thanks,

Dennis, you've got some fine textures here with the ice, the bubbles, and the underwater textures.  This looks very good as presented.  However, I think it might be interesting to try and brighten the browns in the background.  The added warmth might make even more of a contrast with those ice bubbles.  My ponds are frozen over for the first time this year, so I'll be out looking for ice abstracts as soon as the sun hits the ice....they are great fun.

This one is even nicer than your previous macro shot! The white circles juxtaposed on the calm brown background in combination with the other patterns in the ice is really nice.

Terrific abstract, Dennis. This looks very good to me. Lots of interesting shapes and textures to study and enjoy. Well done.

Very nice warm brown tone and cold ice bubbles.  I like this as is.
