Mesquite Dunes, Death Valley NP

We visited DVNP in late October but due to a lot of other travel and crazy work schedule on our return I have not done much processing and even less posting. Hoping to get back into the swing of things soon. Even though the sun had gotten up in the sky a fair amount I thought these shadows and textures were compelling. All comments welcome. >=))>

This definitely needs to be seen large to appreciate all the textures and details that makes this photo. Those gentle curves through the photo are really nice.

Very compelling! I actually like the light you caught here. Excellent lines and details too. The oof backgrounds works nice as well. Maybe a few footsteps over on the right edge you could make disappear! They do add a sense of scale.

Hi Bill, great shot and composition - really like the flowing lines.  I agree with Chris that the footsteps could ''disappear' enlightened The small wavelets on the dune give the scale nicely.
Cheers, Mark

Bill,

This is awesome!  I'm loving the very graphic nature of this with those long, sweeping lines of shape and contrast left to right.  The left side looks like a giant ocean wave.  A little more subtle, but the bg mountains are just wonderful! Soft enough to keep the attention on the dunes, but yet enough hint of detail to make the bg interesting and a terrific element to the scene. There is just so much about this to be amazed about.

Ok, ditto on the footprints, but a minor detail.  Love this!

This is wonderful. I love your strategy for dealing with the bg mountains.  They can intrude if they have too much detail.  I agree on the footsteps. Otherwise, this is ready for print!

Bill, a great dune image! I particularly like the sharpness of the dunes against the softness of the background, and the light/dark of the dunes. These two things create a stunning contradiction, and it's all held together by the great composition. I also agree about the footprints; I would clone those out.

I like this a lot. Nice details in the large version and has a strong graphic appeal. Processing looks good. Nothing to suggest.

Killer shot - the blue and yellows are fantastic.  Thr right dune is a subject unto itself.  Oh, those footprints. " I guess you know what to do Johnny!" if that kind of thing is in your wheelhouse.  Still remains faithful to the view.

Very graphic and beautiful and then you see the detail in the textured sand which further enhances a viewers interest.  Very nice image with lovely curves of opposing hues.

Bill, the shadowed/sunlit swoop is real nice, especially against the background.  The image seems a little tight on the right to me though.  The play of colors othe gold against the slate blue is apealling.
