Another favorite day from this past year.  Falcon State Park made a great headquarters for the lower Rio Grande Valley in Texas, though it's located at the NE end of most of the big birding spots.  It's still only and hour or so to get to them.  My favorite was Salineno, officially known as LTC 080 Salineño/The USFWS Kelper Tract, where they've had a feeding station for many years and regularly have three species of Orioles in addition to Green Jays and Great Kiskidees.  I visited there the morning this image was taken, though this one came from my campsite at the park.

7D2, 300mm f4 ISL + 1.4TC, hand held, f/5.6, 1/5000, iso 800 (left over from the soggy gray sky part of the day and forgot to adjust), aperture priority, center-weighted average metering.  Processed in LR5 & CS6.  Cropped to 10.5 Mpixels.  Taken March 3, 2015 at 4:47 PM.

Comments are always appreciated.

Thanks for looking,

Dennis,

the cluttered scenery workd pretty well to me and the bird stands out nicely due to the very good sharpness. I may crop a bit from the top and right to let the branches look a bit more uniform distributed across the image.

Dennis this is a fine look at this little bird.  The bird is nicely sharp, you've got a bright eye highlight and plenty of detail in the bush.  Those combine to create a fine sense of the warbler in it's environment.

WOW, the detailed shot is wonderful, Dennis. It truly gives the look of being right there. I could see the crops mentioned working well too, but either look works for me.....laugh
