Tiny Tim...
by Dennis Plank
...In the spirit of the season and in recognition of the deformity on one toe of this House Finch's left foot. Another image from my session in the blind last Wednesday. I loved the subtle color variations in the plumage of this individual. We used to have a lot of these around in the winter, but the last few years we've only had a few of any of the reddish finch species.
7D2, Sigma 150-600 C @ 562mm, hand held braced against blind wall, f/8, 1/200, iso 1250, aperture priority, pattern metering. Processed in LR5 & CS6. Cropped to 16.6 Mpixels. Taken December 16th at 9:38 am.

4 commentslike on the images before, I like the moody scene of the image, meaning the soft light and the wet perch. You managed to get an technically fine image, meaning sharpness and exposure are good. Since you have cropped already I would consider a vertical, maybe 3:4 in such a way that the fir branch at the left is eliminated. You will still have suficient pixel for a high quality image
I like this image as posted, the perch is outstanding and the detail superb with a nice background to set it all off.
Your next post will be number one thousand which will officially make you one of the 'Old Timers' of NPN.
Here's to You Old Timer . . .
Looks like avian pox. Ron Dudley did a blog post on it a while ago. The post and the comments give a pretty good picture (sorry) of the problem.
