4 Screws

Some years ago our "Photo Club" made a visit at the "UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site Völklingen Ironworks" which was founded in 1873. Today as stated it is a cultural heritage and offers a lot of great opportunities to photograph. Since we have been there in charge of our "Photo Club" we have been allowed to make pictures and show them to the public, as long there is no commercial use of it, which is the case in this galleries and forum.

I decided to make all my pictures with available light, needing a steady tripod and the patience of my mates since some images exposures went up to several seconds. An interesting thing if you are photgraphing on film and have no idea if it will work ...

I was fasinated by the details of the huge and big machines, like this screws, that appear to be of an usual size, but I have to say that their diameter is about more the 10cm or 4 inches. There have been others, even bigger ...

CONTAX RTS III, Carl Zeiss Planar 1.4/50mm, F16, 30s, Sensia 100, tripod

Scanned with NIKON Coolscan 5000ED, Photoshop curves, sharpening, resizing, full frame

Good eye to see this, Cay-Uwe.  I like the tone and detail that you were able to capture in the metal and nuts.  There's a small white thing below the far left nut that pulls my eye.  Maybe it can be cloned out.

As I see, I have to practice my English a bit more. The image should be called "4 Nuts" and actually the small white thing is the screw's head enlightened

Actually, a bolt goes with a nut....... But, "nuts" to all that, this is a really nice artsy photo!

Very nice, Cay-Uwe, and the story too.  Would love to see this in BW, maybe resemble some of the Ansel Adams industrial images.

I love the look of oil and iron, and the rough industrial feel of this. There is nothing to see here but a kind of honest and rugged utility, which has a beauty all its own.devil

There is some beautiful light and tonality in this image. Some might suggest B&W for this but I really like the subtle colors you have. They give a feeling for the steel in this image.

This works really well. Excellent detail and with the shapes and surfaces, a nice rugged utilitarianism to the image. I agree with Jerry on the white spot lower left.

I like this a lot, Cay-Uwe. It's very detailed and has a toughness that I like a lot. You did very well with the light, and the processing looks great.
