This "old lady" has clearly had a hard life one tusk missing (not that you can see the remaining one) and a bad argument with a tree tearing of a good part of her ear.
Taken in Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe.

70-200 mm F2.8 at 105 mm
F5.6
ISO 400

Ken,

I have seen some elphants with only one tusk, but never one with such a ear. Says a lot of her and you documented very well.

An excellent documentation of this lady Ken, I think it's an interesting composition with the elephants in the lower right adding to the shot.  I feel like a little more room below would enhance it if you have it as the ear which is in some respects the main subject of the photo is quite near to the bottom of the frame. devil

This works as a documentary capture just fine.  The water drops look crisp as does the eye, but given the unusal state of the ear and its power to draw the eye, it is a little unfortunate that the ear itself lacks the same good focus.

Very nice, Ken, but I do have a weakness for portraits of battered old timers regardless of species.
