Blue-eyed Grass

Normally, the flowers of blue-eyed grass are dark violet blue, but I found a population of plants that were producing semi-alba flowers.  This one was challenging to process because of the shallow depth of field and lack of contrast.  I used 16 bit luminosity masks to selectively increase the contrast between flower petals and BG.  I also lightened up and brightened the leaves.  Using Topaz Detail, I increased the fine details and warmed up the BG which was a bluish white color.  I finished processing with Tony Kuyper's Make It Glow which brightened the yellows and greens for the final image.  K5 IIs 180mm f3.5 (1/10sec at f20, ISO 200), Flower shaded with white umbrella................................Jim

Excellent job of processing, and thanks for the summary. It's posts like these that help all of us: too rare, unfortunately. A well made shot!devil

Excellent job on this beautiful flower, Jim.  We have them here as well, and they're one of my favorites of their season.
