Hi All,
Thanks for all the comments/suggestions on my first "Huangshan" post. Here's a zoom in of the same scene taken moments later. Appreciate comments/suggestion and in particular any thoughts on the contrast level.

5DII, 70-200 f/4L @ 70mm
1/15 sec, f13, ISO 100

Thanks, Dave

This is great, Dave, but not quite as impactful as the previous image.  What a cool place to photograph, though.

As a film LF photographer,(currently) I envy the speed of digital to get images like this under quickly changing lightning conditions. Another fine image, Dave. I like the contrast between the silhouette and the softly lit bg mountain. Also that faint hint of another mountain in the bg adds something.

Welcome to NPN!  With fantastic compositions such as this and your first one, I regret that you have been "lurking" so long.  Of the two, I think that the first one certainly has a greater overall appeal and is the better composition.  I do like the more intense color of #2, but I wish there was more detail to see on the right.  Perhaps due to the faster shutter speed used for #2, there isn't much detail to bring out.  But I'm often surprised at the amount of detail that can be brought out of the shadows during editing.

This is a beautiful companion piece to your prior post, Dave. I love the intense warm color along with the hint of that peak nestled in the BG. Keep them coming.

Dave,

Great second post!  Another dramatic and impactful image. Compositionally, the previous image had more enduring impact for me, but this one is still strong - it just has a different presence due to the imbalance of the heavy dark tower of rock and trees on the right.  But the clouds, sun, color and atmosphere throughout the rest of the image counter that quite nicely.

Sure looks like quite the place to have experienced.

Another beautiful image Dave.  I'm certainly happy you decided to quit lurking and join the family here as you will add much to the community.

This second version conveys a totally different atmosphere to me, Dave, much more serene and contemplative. The visual weight of the sun and the glow at the left and the silhouette at the right is aptly balanced for me.

It is very interesting for me to compare the different interpretations of the same scene. Personally I prefer the second version, it really strikes a chord in me.

Quite a different comp than the previous one, but this works very well for me as well. Not as in your face as the other one, I think. I like that subtle layer in the background between the two major peaks. That one adds a lot.

Clean and quiet composition.  I love subtle understated work that is yet powerful.

Dave, welcome to NPN.  I like the balance here especially with the gentle sun and the hint of distant mountain.  I would like to see just a bit more detail in the peak on the right.  It looks like there are hints of color there.  I think bringing to up very gently (I say you want more than a hint, but still not easy to see) would add even more depth
