Crab-eating Fox

Here's a Crab-eating Fox photographed at Pousada Piuval, a very nice lodge in the Pantanal of Brazil. At daybreak this fox was hanging out right in front of the lodge. By the way Crab-eating Fox is the name of the species, not what he was doing, I have never seen one eat a crab although I imagine they would.
Canon 5D3 500F4 1/400 F5.6, iso 1600, full frame

I like the peaceful look you are getting from this fox Nate. You obviously shot this on a slanted hill. At first glance, it did give the feel it needs a slight rotation, but after viewing it for a minute, I don't think it does. My eyes are just playing tricks on me because of the FG and BG slants. Nice work on this. I would hope they eat crabs, or they are just falsely advertising that name! sad

nice and clean portrait. I like the pose of the fox and also the low angle of photography. Technically very good as well.

Hi Nate,

Looks good. I'd remove the light circular bokeh in the BG slightly behind and posterior to the shoulder region. Other than that a very interesting animal for sure.......................................Jim

I think I do recall seeing an image of one of these eating a crab...would be surprised if they didn't with a name like that!

Nate: what's not to like about this fox even if he's not eatilng a crab at the moment! My minor suggestion would be to tone down the bright foreground/background. The oof portion lowermost is a distraction. Wonderful otherwise. Richard
