Frosted Lichen

Another from our frosty period (now succeeded by a couple of weeks straight of rain with no end in sight).

5D3, 180mm f3.5 macro, tripod, f/25, 1/10 sec, iso 400, aperture priority, pattern metering, +1 1/3 EV to get proper exposure against the bright sky.  Processed in LR5 & CS6.  Cropped a bit for composition (final size was 18 Mpixels).  The end of another branch was removed digitally.  Taken November 28th at 8:57 am.

I appreciate all your comments and criticisms and look forward to your input on this image.

Thanks,

Hi Dennis,

I wonder if you could selectively lighten the BG to make thos ice crystals appear more prominently (Go High Key!).  Diagonal comp is nice. and the lichen adds a lot of interest to the image...............................Jim

I like the delicate look of frost crystals, Dennis. I think Jim's high key bg suggestion is a good one, but I might just lighten the entire image.

Dennis,

I am jealous that you are in an area with interesting winter conditions. We don't have much frost in Houston, so I'm glad you share these treats. I agree with lightening. I like the crystally texture of the icy wrap.
