Buttercup

This is one from the spring of 2014.  I processed it then and didn't post it.  I recently tried processing another frame and am still not sure it works, mainly from the positioning of the buttercup, but I can't figure out any better way to frame it.  Originally it was centered in a horizontal frame-not a good move on my part.  Anyhow, I thought I'd throw it out there to see how people like it.

5D3, 300mm f4 ISL + 1.4TC, tripod & ballhead, f/5.6, 1/160, iso 1600, aperture priority, pattern metering, +2/3 EV.  Processed in LR5 & CS6.  Cropped from a horizontal-nearly full height vertically.  Taken April 14, 2014 at 5:50 am on a local county preserve.

I appreciate all your comments on the fungus post and look forward to your input on this one.

Thanks,

Dennis,

very nice and the flower pose can be interpreted as having to hold a heavy load from a cold night. I find the mood very nice.

Excellent as composed/cropped, Dennis. I like the position of the flower in the frame and the beautiful bg. devil

Dennis, I like the beautiful softness in this one. The composition works for me. I would like to see the image against a dark gray or black (or maybe white) background. Very nice!

The composition you chose emphasizes the smallness of the flower in its environment and I think it works well.  Another crop alternative would be to crop the left side up to the two blades of grass that lean to the left.  Hard to judge without seeing it.  I like the softness and the detail of the frost or dew which adds greatly to the story.

I missed this beautiful photo but not Jim. It's very simple and impressive at the same time, delicate but with strong leading lines. I love it.

This is such a sweet image...I love the soft colors, the frost really makes it special, and I wouldn't change a thing. Congrats on the weekly pick.
