Frosted Fir

Another frost image.  I really liked the way the frost grew on the Gouglas fir needles.  The slight bit of color left in the image seemed to detract rather than add, so after the rest of the processing, I desaturated the image completely.

5D3, 180mm f3.5 macro, tripod, f/32, 1/8sec, iso 400, aperture priority, pattern metering.  Processed in LR5 & CS6.  Slight crop.  Taken November 28th at 8:45 am under cloudy skies with a touch of fog left.

Comments and criticisms are very much appreciated.

Thanks,

The ice crystal details in the larger view are excellent, Dennis. Very cool, no pun intended.  The conversion to B&W works for me.

Dennis, I'm jealous about the amount of frost you're getting.  This is another fine look, with large frost crystals and excellent details.  It lookd good in b&w.  As a minor nit, I'd like to see that lowest needle completely in the frame but this looks good as presented because that needle is fairly dark.
