The common Pasque Flower is considered endagered in the area I live and I was happy to find these ones in a meadow on a hiking tour close to my home area.

Altough there have been plenty plants it took a while until I found an arrangement of them that suited my idea of a portrait.

CANON EOS 30D, EF 2.8/70-200L + Extension Tube, F16, 1/250s, ISO200, handheld

Photoshop curves, sharpening, full frame

Excellent. A well balanced composition. I particularly like the precise DOF, keeping the attention on the blossom, while still providing enough detail of the unopened blossom.devil

Hi Cay-Uwe, we have a very similar flower here in Saskatchewan which blooms in our spring.  I am always looking for ways to photograph it.  I really like the composition and depth of field you used here.  Excellent work.

This is a tough one to photograph and you did very well with your technique.  I'd like to see a little tighter composition, but you can't change the results of plant growth.  The coloration of the flower is ideal and the soft BG helps put some interest in the subject.  Well donedevil......................Jim

Excellent job on the flower, Cay-Uwe.  The compsoition seems to me to be a bit too dominated by the twin buds above the flower.  You don't mention what focal length you were at when you shot this, but if you could have gone down in focal lengeth and moved closer to the main subject, in might have balanced the image a bit more.  I do like having at least one oof bud in the bg as it adds a nice feel and a good indication of the earlier stages of the flower.

Cay-Uwe: Great to have you posting in Flora again - it seems like a long time. Really good DOF command of the main subject. I really like the low POV as well. Top notch image. >=))>

I love the portrait of the flower in the forground and the emotive backgound. Excellent work for me.
