Abstract Icelandic Orca
by Katie Jones
Hi! I want to thank everyone for the wonderful feedback on my images so far. It's really great to get other people's perspectives and opinions. Being new to NPN, I have so very much enjoyed seeing all the incredible talent on this site. What a cool place to "hang out"! I hope you all aren't getting tired of marine mammal images, because here's another one...
I like this one because of it's abstract nature. I photographed this orca as it swam under a bridge I was standing on during a breezy February day in Iceland. This was a large adult male who luckily decided to surface for a breath right below me (about 15 feet down). It was SO incredibly windy on this day that I remember I was having a lot of trouble even keeping the camera strap around my neck let alone being able to hold the camera STILL. However, the blustery conditions created some facinating texture on the water - and yes, the water really was that color and very COLD! This image is cropped only slighly because I caught a small section of the bridge in the frame on the original image. I also added a very slight vingette. Thanks for looking!
