This is 'junior' out exploring, he/she then realised it wasn't for eating, but a good way in which to clean & sharpen that ferocious beak, learning a skillset for the future!!! Some may feel there is too much FG, however I felt it needed the 'weight' at the foot????

Thanks for either viewing or commenting on the previous image guys.
Steve
Subject: Little owlet (Athene noctua) with some straw between the open beak
Location: UK
Camera: Canon 1DX
Lens: 500f/4MKII & 1.4 MKIII HH
Exposure: 1/2000s at f/9 ISO800
Original format: Portrait, slight crop
Processed: LRCC & PS CC2015 - (Some OOF dark lines removed and some light highlights in the greenery)

Note: The subject is fully wild and completely unconstrained. Besides the potential impact of my presence, nothing has been done to intentionally alter or affect the ongoing behavior of the subject and, of course, there has been no use of any form of bait or other form of wildlife attractants (including vocalisations) in the capture of this image.

Definitely a candidate for the "cute" award, Steve.  You did an excellent job of isolating the bird and couple of straws from that foreground.  I think if I'd been processing it, I probably would have taken off about half of the oof foreground, but that's a matter of taste and this presentation works quite well.

A fun image.  Personal chopice, but for me a little to much OOF foreground.  Nice image either way.
