Happy Thanksgiving!

I'm posting this little scene mostly because it reminds me of how my wife may have decorated some Thanksgiving tables in years past. cool  I even remember gathering autumn leaves from a local park one year.  Wishing everyone a wonderful Thanksgiving!

I spotted these leaves as they glowed and were lit by the warm reflected light off El Capitan.  We were down by the river, Preston, myself, Harley, his friend Bill and our favorite photo assistant Maggie.  If you look close, you can even see her paw prints in the large view.... (Just kidding, but she did come close being very curious.)

Just a bunch of leaves in some nice light.  Thanks for looking.

Here is uncropped original.  See any better crops? Or is the wider view better?

Lon, I prefer the cropped version. The less populated upper corners accenuate the pattern of the larger leaves. You might consider increasing the saturation in the yellows just a bit. The reds look spot-on. Well done, sir!

Happy Thanks giving to you, and to all NPNers! Have a safe and wonderful holiday!

I like both veersions, hard choice but I think I prefer the cropped one. The colors and contrast work very well for me.

The crop looks great. I'm wondering what a slightly cooler interpretation of this scene would look like. Perhaps enhancing some of the cooler colors in there would work well against all those earth tones.

My eye keeps dancing across the frame, taking in the variations in light and shade and the contrasts between the soft, patterned leaf lobes and the randomness of the spiky stalks.  Lovely tonality and a fine presentation ( prefer the cropped version ) devil

PS We don't have Thanksgiving over here but I wish you all the best for the occasion.

I always apprectate when someone takes a very simple ordinary scene like some leaf litter on the ground and creates a very pleasing image. I really like the composition and light. The image has a very nice feeling to it. Fall is my favorite time of year and this image invokes a that peaceful feeling. I lke the first image the best.

Sweet, Lon.  Beautiful warm light and a real nice leaf scene. The cropped version is the winner for me. And I am not seeing a better crop in the wider view.

Happy Thanksgiving to all NPN'ers and their family and friends.

Crop looks spot on to me, and I definitely prefer it over the uncropped version. The monochromatic nature of this one really makes all the details shine, and the light is superb. Good job!

Sweet! The original crops works better for me, works great for me. There are about five leaves having their stems parallel to each other (and aligned somewhat horizontally) from top to bottom, and that works really well. I wonder if you were looking for something like this in advance, or if you subconsiously responded to it...?  Anyway, the uncropped version has these five leaves rendered too small, surrounded with visual info that is less meaningful.

Lon, you're back!  Fantastic.  I thought this had to be a 4x5, but I see you have moved to digital, but clearly you have not left 4x5 in your mind entirely; just using a new tool to create your always inspiring, stunning, contempletive fine art photography.

The glowing, golden tones in this image are simply wonderful, and the contrasting forms of the oak leaves amongst the lines of the pine needles works so very well.  Your crop of the original framing is perfect in my opinion; do not see how your composition could be any better, not to mention the 4x5 aspect ratio.  The tactile feel to your image, especially seen in the larger size, is remarkable; one wants to reach out and touch those leaves.  Amazing work.

A Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.

OUTSTANDING!!  I love this photo Lon, probably your best so far from your Yosemite trip.  The warmth and glow is just dripping good, if that term makes any sense.  I think you found the best crop from the full image.
