Hey Jim,
Excellent shapes and patterns with a nice color pallet, the detail in the large version is amazing.
Well done . . .  devil

A very interesting funghi study. Fascinating shapes, colors and textures.

This is nice.  I like it.  It's an appealing study of shape, pattern and texture.  The large version does look a little soft to me in places where it seems like it should be sharp ... maybe just not sharpened enough.

Very nice shapes and repetition, where form is emphasised by colour. Imo the image would be even stronger if there were no background (bark of a tree?). Nevertheless I like it.

Jim,

Fascinating detail here - it appears like this is a "slice" of something, like slicing thru a piece of petrified wood.  I'm wondering if even a further crop, eliminating any reference to the tree would make this even more of an abstract.  I could also see this working back as a vertical, but of course a personal choice.

Very nice colors and detail in the large version.  Nicely abstract.

The color and contrast are spot-on, and the composition works very well. After reading Lon's comment about cropping the hints of the tree, I'd be interested to the result. Well done, Jim!

I recropped the image to remove the dark tree trunk cross section.  I like this cropped version better.  Thank you................Jim

Thanks for taking the time to rework and repost.  You nailed it as far as I'm concerned.  Yes, you lose big picture, which was more documentary.  This bumps it up a notch in terms of artisticness (is that a word?)
