Black Phoebe

Another from last winter.  These seem more brown than black to me, but that's going to vary a lot depending on the light.  I lightened the shadows just a bit and brightened the eye.

7D2, 500mm f4 ISL + 1.4TC, Jobu Gimbal on RRS legs, f/9, 1/1600, sio 1250, aperture priority, center-weighted average metering, no compensation.  Processed in LR5 & CS6.  Slight crop to 18.3 Mpixels.  Taken at Green Kingfisher Pond in the San Pedro River Riparian Area near Sierra Vista, Arizona.  Taken at 8:03 am on March 10th, 2015.

Please check the larger image for better detail.

I appreciate your input on the Pelicans and look forward to your comments on this one.

Thanks,

Nice pose and complementary BG.  Rt. eye still a little dark but large image better.  I like the wing movement.  Very sharp.

I like the clean BG and open wings Dennis. But I think this looses something with the head and eyes being so dark. I think you have some room to lighten up the shadows, but not sure if you can enough and still make it look natural.

Nice pose, and the colors are great, throughout the image. Wondering about trying to light it up a bit - could make the image stronger. On the other side, this has something mysterious to it, which appeals to me quite abit .. Cheers, Hans

Dennis, I like the pose, the clean background and the perch.  What would have made it even better for me would be a bit more detail in the face.
