Pump Pan

This is taken at Pump Pan in the Savute Channel area of Chobe, thankfully a long way from the crowded Northern area.
Pump Pan was made infamous as the place where widlife filmakers took horrific film of Lions killing Elephants and vice versa.
Not my cup of tea.

As the Savute Channel has ceased flowing, the Botswanan Wildlife and National Parks has in its usual  manner shut down the pumps at all but three of the waterholes, animals will die,

Hey Ken,

Nice photo - speaks to the strong mother-offspring bond of these animals.

RE: Your comment: "...the Botswanan Wildlife and National Parks has in its usual useless manner..."

You know we are sympathetic to conservation messages "slipping into" image commentaries in this gallery, particularly those pertaining to wildlife conservation. However, please keep the messages positive and informative and please avoid slander and name-calling. While I'm fairly sure no one from the Botswana Wildlife and National Parks are NPN members and thus are unlikely to be directly offended by what you wrote, that's not really the point here. If you have a valid conservation argument against them please present it in full (or at least provide links to where we can investigate the issue). Simply calling them "useless" serves no positive purpose.

Thanks in advance for your anticipated cooperation.

Brad,
I have deleted "useless".
I hope this satisfies you.
I think my comment is "informative", unfortunately "positive" is hard to come by.

Thanks Ken.

By positive purpose I meant giving the reader a means of taking action on the issue or against the policy you think should be changed.

Cheers...

Brad,
Sorry I missunderstood you, chances of changes of policy are remote in my experience.

Ken: there's beautiful light on the subjects which emphasizes the textures intheir skins. You've also caught a tender moment between the calf and mother. This photo really must be seen large to appreciate it. Congrats! Richard
