A Few of My Favorite...
...things to just sit and watch.

     - Golden tamaracks in morning light
     - Snow clinging to fall leaves
     - Low clouds clinging to the mountains
     - Sunshine and shade interspersed on the landscape

This is from the transition from fall to winter three years ago.  I got up at 4:30 AM to find new snow on the fall leaves.  I ended up finding all the things above, and more.  It was a kind of quiet joy that is difficult to explain, so I hope this image explains at least some of it.

Canon 5DII; Canon 24-105 mm.
1/60 sec. @ f/14; ISO 100
This image is part of a 6-frame panorama.

The lighting is exquisite, Wayne.  It draws the eyes right down into the valley.  The snow is beautiful on the trees in the FG, and the stormy sky in the BG tells the whole story.  Wonderful image!

This is a beauty, Wayne.  The mix of colors in the trees, cloud, snow, and sun plus the long view come together beautifully.  In scrolling up and down, I find that I also like this with most of the foreground evergreens cropped.

The first thing that popped in my mind was "print print print print!!!", because this must be an awesome print. So much going on, yet far from being chaotic. Absolutely love all the different layers, colors and structures. A winner!

Yessiree, Wayne, this is a winner suitable for framing. It's pretty much a rainbow of color laid on its side.

Wayne, this image is hard to forget, or I should say could not be forgotten. One of those right place right time photos. But, as we know, you have to be there to take advantage of those rare opportunities. As I recall back to my many years of drag racing, it was not always the fastest car in the group, it was many times the person who was there more often to take advantage of the situation. Much to be said about those work ethics. A truly wonderful image.......laugh

Superb, Wayne.  I wouldn't have any problem sitting and looking at that all day.  Gorgeous light and colors.

This is one of the most beautiful transition to winter scenes that I have ever seen! Just magnificent, with so much to see and marvelous colors, lots of detail, interesting light. You were able to transmit your "quiet joy." Thank you!
