Blue-eyed Grass (repost)
by Wayne Jones
This is a repost of a photograph I posted last week, but I was notified that it disappeared from the NPN server due to a technical problem.
I found these little half-inch flowers glowing in the shade above the high water mark of a local lake.
Summary of previous comments (without naming names, lest I missed any): I have been busy with some home projects for the past week, so I have not been posting or commenting for days, but I recall there were several complimentary comments about the image, as well as suggestions that I remove the small OOF flower in the bottom of the frame. (That's something that I too often fail to even think about, because of my "documentary" background in scientific photography and a couple of magazines that don't like "altered" images.) One artistic European commenter wondered if I tried darkening the highlights and background (which I did in normal processing, but it was not very noticeable in the posted image, and I don't get into details like that when posting). There were also some valuable comments about dealing with ticks, since I mentioned that I laid on the ground to get this picture without using the plastic sheet that I carry in my pocket for just such occasions. (I decided not to use it because I was laying mostly on sand, so I ended up with a deer tick.) THANKS FOR ALL YOUR VALUABLE COMMENTS!
Canon 7D Mark II; Sigma 150 mm. Macro

Tech notes/excuses: No tripod because I was on a short walk looking for animals on a local lake shore before dinner, so I rested the camera on my camera bag for this ground-level shot. Hence the high ISO (which the new camera handles quite well) ...and the tick I got from laying on the ground. :-)

The good side of it being deleted for me is seeing it again. I think it is a very lovely image and I agree with leaving the bottom Out-of-Focus flower in the picture.
