Circus Lineup

The wilderness trails in Kruger NP, South Africa are truly remarkable and a superb value compared to many other options.  On our last trip, we did both the Wolhuter Trail and the Sweni Trail.  The Wolhuter Trail is noted for a lot of close enounters with Rhino which we had and the remarkable water hole that is not 50-feet from the edge of camp.  Each afternoon we were treated to a parade of animals coming down to drink with nothing between us but this waist high lenght of chicken wire they called a fence.  I thougth this trio of elephants looked like they were in a circus the way they were lined up with the biggest propping his foot on a small mound in the middle of the waterhole.  Comments and suggestions are always appreciated!

Hi Joe,
Nice frame. I wonder if including less foreground and more of that hill behind the elephants would have created a better option here.

Cheers,

Hisham.

It's always fun seeing and photographing elephants at the waterhole.  I like this image and the lineup Joe.  I would crop a little from the bottom so most of the grass and sticks on the lower right are removed.  I would also consider removing the one lump of dung, although I am not much of a cloner myself.  devil

Hi Joe,

A very nice scene - and I appreciate getting the "wider" view. I think I'm with Hisham in terms of wondering if showing this with a little less foreground and a little more background might make the image even stronger? Of course, if this is full-frame that would be an impossibility!

For some reason (and I can't pinpoint why), this one "feels" a little off-level to me...and I wonder if a very slight CCW rotation might be worth experimenting with?

Cheers...

Thanks folks for the comments!  Unfortunately, this is full frame.  If I had to do it over again I would go wider with more of the hill in the background but that's what this site is for.  I think the reason it does feel a bit "off level" is that the elephant on the right has bit of a lean.  He was being pushed a bit by the one in the middle so kept leaning out.

Cheers,

Joe
