Tsaina River Sunlight #1

by Gary Minish

Gallery: Weekly ChallengePosted October 25, 2015194 views7 comments
Sunlit peaks behind the shadowed Tsaina River Valley, from the Richardson Highway approximately 35 miles from Valdez, Alaska.

This is 4 vertical photos stitched into a panorama. The large version is absolutely essential here because of the limit on panorama length.

Sony DSC-F707, ISO-100, f8.0, 1/200, 4 handheld frames.

This looks great, Gary, love the white on white with the subtle blue in the sky and the fine look along the river through the trees.  The details in the sunlit peaks show much better in the larger version.

Gary:
I really like the mood in this scene.  Cold, yet inviting.  Nice work handling the contrast between the shaded areas and the sunlit mountains.

The larger versionis awesome, Gary.  You really nailed the exposure on the whites.  Very well done.

The large version really shows off this gorgeous panorama.  I love that only a few colors are present.  It seems like such a peaceful scene.

Brrrr........yep, looks like what I recall of the area, Gary. Not only are the peaks a neat view but the processing of the FG looks very natural to me too. Usually, the shaded area is overrun with too much blue, this looks like we're right there.
