Crow

I'm not sure if this is an American Crow or a Fish Crow.  From it's location and habits, I'm inclined to go with the latter, but I haven't found any description that would let one make a positive ID in the field.  This was on the mudflats at Big Beef Creek where I went to shoot Eagles in July.  The crows were pretty good fishermen, though they had to evade gulls and eagles to get their catch back to their nests.

7Dii, 500mm f4 ISL + 1.4TC, Jobu gimbal on RRS legs, f/7.1, 1/4000, sio 500, manual exposure.  Processed in LR5 & CS6.  Cropped some from the bottom and left.  Final size is 16.2MP.  Taken at 9:51 am on July 1st.

I appreciate all your comments on the Eagle and look forward to your input on this image.

Thanks,

Well done on a difficult subject, Dennis. I would tone down the highlights on the beak, if possible.

Crows can be difficult because they just absorb all the light.  You did a pretty good job of capturing this one though, Dennis.  Its good that it's eye is clearly visible as that's not so easy to accomplish.

Nice one, Dennis.  I don't think I've seen a  better exposure on a black creature.  Difficult to not block the shadows and get a little shine to the black feathers.  Well done.
