Great Egret

Canon 7d Mark II     100-400 mm lens at 220 mm      1/4000 sec     f5.6     ISO 400

I'm not sure why these settings.  I'd change them if I did it over.   I like the wisps of grass in front of the egret, seems to give it an artistic/oriental dimension.

Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

Nice stately pose, I like the muted colors and the composition. Ray

Hey Allen,
Superb overall composition with nice separation of the subject from that wonderful background. The foreground colors and grass adds a lot of interest and yet is perfectly minimal. You did real good on this one and the large version is very impressive.
Well done . . .  laugh

Great pose and comp, Allen!  I agree with you about the wisps of grass, they add a very nice atistic effect.

It's a good portrait of a Great Egret. The lifted leg gives an indication of motion. Yes you could have used a different setting—some negative EV for one. The lack of detail in the feathers indicates over exposure.

Beautiful, Allen.  The pose is perfect and you have excellent detail in the plumage.  The in-focus foreground grasses really add to this image and the metallic looking water makes a nice bg.

Nice scene Allen. Whites look good to me and I like the included grasses too. He looks hungry.
