Gulf Fritillary or "Passion Butterfly".. First time I've got a decent shot of this B-fly species with its 'flaps' down..
F/14, 1/1250th, ISO 640, Canon 5DM2, 300mm f/2.8 + 2x ext with fill flash (580EX Speedlite). Shot Date: 09-16-2015

6 commentsAmazing, Howard. First time I've ever seen a BF in flight image with the wings down like this. Very unique. Looks just like a bird in flight. I also like the way the wings expose the torso, and the excellent detail. Finally, the orange GF really stands out beautifully against the green bg.

Oh man, another terrific "in flight" catch. Your macro-in-motion skills are amazing. Where's the "hats off" emoticon.
Every time I see your flash images Howard it makes me wish I had a ring flash set up. To get a flight shot like this takes some doing and I am well impressed. Graham

Great catch. Howard - a really unusual position for the wings which makes for an eye-catching photo. Wonderful skill to get this !!!!
Very cool to capture this wing position, Howard, and the colors and detail are excellent!
