Paradise Valley

From a visit to the Banff area this past summer. Wildfires in the region limited the visibility for many of the iconic vistas, but for this sunrise the haze allowed for some nice diffuse color. I was a little scared to backpack alone into this semi-remote area with lots of bear activity, but I made lots of noise as I hiked and avoided any encounters. These falls are more photogenic shooting the other way, but the lightshow was downstream so I tried to make the most of it. Your thoughts? C&C much appreciated!

I really like the mid- and background. The light is really nice, and the fog in the valley adds a lot to the mood of the image. I think that the very bottom of the frame (very foreground) is not the strongest element of the image. I wonder whether you wold lose anything by cropping a bit from the bottom.

The large image is fantastic. I too thought to crop from the bottom, but when I tried it, it seemed to loose something important for the visual balance.

HA!  I'm always terrified hiking at night and do the same thing with noise!  Sometimes just hollering or playing music loud on my phone or something.  :p  KILLER freakin shot.  Woah nilly.

This is an incredible image Jared! My only feedback would be that slight waterfall? highlight in the creek is really distracting because the highlights are so bright.

This is fabulous.  The foreground adds a nice dynamic leading line, but when I opened the bigger image, I found that scrolling to a crop of a small bit off the bottom allowed my eye to appreciate the layers in the mountains to the right.  I think that's ultimately a matter of taste, and this is great anyway you look at it.

Jared, this has a very mystical feeling with the strong warm colors.  I like the near-far comp.  It does a fine job of letting me feel like I'm sitting there by the stream.

Nice light and I like the fact that you thought outside the box to find the comp, which is good.  Nice work.

I like it as is although maybe just a touch more contrast.... Your usual excellent IQ.

Where do I start?!

First, the light is incredible! The processing is very well done (that is to say minimally), as it could be easy to overdo something like this.

Also, I love the U-shape created by the mountains from the right edge to the left, mirrored by the upside-down U of the river edge. This pulls your eye in and doesn't let go. Great comp!

I agree with Richard that the highlight in the foreground could be dialed back a bit, but not a big deal there...

This is 'wowser' image for sure. Is this a two image blend?

Usually I prefer less saturated colours, but here I have to admit that it's a pleasure to see...

Excellent, great effect! Sharpness, composition, tonal precision, colours....all work so well...

Thank you for sharing and all the best,
Sandro
