My wife and I spent a couple of days at Farewell Bend State Park on the Oregon side of the Snake River a couple of weeks ago. A beautiful park, but the hills across the river in Idaho display a callous disregard for the landscape. The only reason these ruts aren't chasms is the aridity of hte climate. I'll add a comment with a clip of the area from Google Earth to show the real extent of the damage.
5Diii, 70-200mm f4 ISL @ 89mm, hand held, f/13, 1/250, iso 400, aperture priority, pattern metering, -1/3 stop compensation to avoid blowing out the clouds. Processed in LR5 & CS6. Full frame. Taken at 5:26 P(or maybe it was 6:26-the park is right on the time zone change which creeps into Oregon here) on September 17th.
Comments and criticisms are greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Hey Dennis,
Well documented commentary and image of what I am assuming are motor trails on the hillside. There are all kinds of ways to have fun in the outdoors and 4-wheeling and/or motorcycles are certainly very popular. Although not everyone approves of the destructive nature of this activity, I can relate to its appeal. It can be enjoyed however without being a problem, unfortunately like people who litter, many individuals have no respect for mother nature nor the consequences of their actions.
