My first try with a 5DS, this is an extremely large crop about 20% of RAW.
Processing this RAW was extremely time consuming, I will definitely need some more RAM to spped this up.
Taken in Bontebok National Park, South Africa.

Hello Ken, nice pose, perch and overall colors. What about the Stonehatch though ? It's an African Stonechat male as far as I can tell
. Must be autocorrect ..?! Did you see any Didericks Cuckoo while you were there? When I visited the park some years ago, I saw quite a few. Anyway, a nice and pleasant shot ! Cheers, Hans
Hans,
Thanks for the ID correction, must have been back in UK for a moment.
Not much in the way of birds yesterday, some Denhams Bustard bit all very distant.
I do not recall ever seeing any type of cuckoo in the park
Looks like the 5DS works well, even if it does entail another couple of grand in computer upgrades, Ken. Lovely image.
Nice shot, Ken.
Beatiful bird, nice perch and bg.
Thanks everybody
Dennis,
More RAM I think, thankfully not as expensive as it used to be
I like this a lot Ken. Nice clean shot in great light. You chose a perfect crop too.
Looks like it held up well for such a large crop Ken. Nice clean image.
A very nice shot, Ken! The exposure and focus are right on the money with great contrast between the eye and the black feathers. The detail is excellent, especially considering the huge crop (that's the nice thing about super high density). In the large version I could see a couple missed spots in your selective noise reduction (below it's feet and around it's toes plus a triangle between it's tail, left leg and branch.
