Clarice and her litter were rescued from deplorable conditions. She has made her way from the south to Mary's Dogs, a rescue organization in NH, where life is looking up. Clarice is on the lookout for her forever home, wondering when her new family will come adopt her.
To me, this photo tells the story of dog rescue - abandoned and abused dogs rescued in the south who are then transported to rescue organizations in the northeast where the chance of finding a loving home is much greater. Clarice is a sweet, trusting little dog who I have no doubt will find a forever home thanks to the efforts of all involved.

11 commentsThere's some history in those scars. The image has emotional impact and summarizes the uncertainty in a dog's life when human irresponsibility plays a role. I hope that she gets placed with a loving family..................................Jim
Jim, an excellent summation of this dog's circumstances, and to think that there are thousands more just like her waiting for a forever home.
This photo is of Clarice as she was walking past me, catching her mid-stride in servo mode with her ears flopping and her tail wagging. The resiliency of these dogs both amazes and humbles me, how they can remain so faithful and trusting of humans after what many of them had to endure.
Thanks again for taking a look and commenting!
These are such great images Jim that tell a story. I volunteered again this morning at Mary's Dogs and noticed poor Clarice spends a lot of time gazing out past the fence the two times I spend with her this morning. Looks like she is longing for someone to come home. I hope she finds a loving home soon.
If I lived out your way I'd take her in a heartbeat Jim.. Already have three dogs, but have plenty of room.
We have one rescue dog now. Excellent image & message that needs to be heard, more people need to step up to the plate.
Great post!
What a sweet looking dog. She has such kind eyes in the walking shot. I'm sure she will find a loving family to share a long life with. One has to really wonder how these dogs wind up in such sad conditions and require being rescued in the end. Thankfully, there are many groups willing to help these kind critters out too......
Clarice has been adopted! :-)
I'm glad she was adopted. For the record, there are abandoned and abused dogs everywhere, not just in the South.
Indeed, dog over population is a national problem but these links shed light on why some "southern dogs" who would otherwise be euthanized are brought to the northeast;

We have rescued dogs, too, Jim. Congratulations to Clarice on finding a home. And to the folks at Mary's Dogs for making it possible.
Very nice images, Jim. There are lots of abused and abandoned animals here, too. It's a constant battle to help thse critters out.
I am glad Clarice has a new home!
