I was going back through some older stuff from the last couple of months and I realized I hadn't posted this one with the other Western Bluebirds. I didn't get much of a chance with the juveniles this year as they left the immediate area as soon as they fledged and only came back a couple of times. This is from the first nesting of the summer and is a large crop, but it seems to have held up adequately for the 720 pixel image. The 1600 pixel image is starting to show the crop fairly significantly.
7Dii, 500mm f4 ISL + 1.4TC, Jobu Gimbal on RRS legs, f/6.3, 1/640, aperture priority, pattern metering, +2 2/3 stops compensation for the bright white sky in the bg. Processed in LR5 & CS6. I processed the birds and perch on one layer and the sky on another, reducing the exposure of the latter. Cropped to 2.4MP (12% of the original) but the interaction was so cute that I couldn't resist trying it. Taken July 10th at 8:46 am.
I appreciate all the comments on the Goldfinch post and look forward to your comments on this one.
Thanks,

8 commentsHi Dennis,
It is still a very nice image even with the slight loss in image quality from the crop. Birds are cute with those eyerings and they show up well with the light BG.............................Jim
I think you cornered the market on cute. Pretty noisy in the larger image.
10+ on the cute scale Dennis. Love the how the one juvie seems to be pressing in on the other too..
Excellent details and the perch compliments very nicely!
Seriously cute Dennis
A very high cuteness factor here, one has to fall in love with these two.

Over the top cute, Dennis. The interaction is indeed very good. The very heavy crop, high EC or both clobbered your larger version, but the small one holds up pretty well.
Hey Dennis,
Well composed and adorable image that should print very well. The techs look great and you pulled off a real special moment that I'd be proud to have in my gallery.
Nice Work . . .
Very lovely!
