How appropriate! I was thinking of Mr. Chauvin when I was making this image... and he just posted one of his incredible bayou cypress shots.
I don't get many chances to photograph cypress-like trees in the high Sierra but this little pond had a few of them with nice reflections on a cold, still morning.

5 commentsWell this ain't cypress, and this ain't Chauvin, but it is really, really nice Dave. Love how these old pines are reflected in the dark water. Beautiful compisition....love how the larger pines frame the bright one in the center of the image, which is offset just enough from center. Sweet.
Like your last post, this has a sense of quiet that is very appealing. The perfectly calm water and dead trees create cause for reflection in more than one sense of meaning. Thanks for the thoughts. It's gratifying to know that we are sometimes heard when out howling at the moon.
Best Regards,
This is really lovely. I like how the trees seem to be glowing in this context.
Incredible image, David. I love the colors, contrasts of textures and the framing of the central tree by the other ones. :)
I love ghost forests. They have such a quiet, almost ancient feel. I really like this. The trees are excellent, and I like greens that set them off. The reflection is spot-on. Well done!
