After dropping off the ants he had in my last post of this bird, it popped back up on the perch I'd attached to the post supporting its box. I got one frame of this open beak pose and liked it. This will probably be the end of the Bluebirds for this year as they fledged a couple of days after I took this (unfortunately, I was busy with other things and missed it). Sometimes they come back with juveniles in tow to use the bird baths so I'm still hoping for that.
7Dii, Sigma 150-600mm at 562mm (no good reason for this focal length-just didn't go all the way to 600), hand held, f/8, 1/640, iso 640, aperture priority, pattern metering, no compensation. Processed in LR5 & CS6. Processed the perch and bird on separate layers-reduced exposur 0.2 stops on the perch and added some levels and curves adjustments to the bird. Brought out detail in both using Topaz detail. Cropped to 16.7MP. Taken August 15th at 7:07 pm in our back yard.
I appreciate the comments on the last Osprey post and look forward to receiving your input on this image.

I like the birds position out towards the end of the perch, and he's got a good grip there
An excellent Bluebird series!

Excellent series, Dennis. That poor Bluebird looks like it had been rode hard and put up wet!
I like that you processed in layers. That is almost foundational for processing.
