This is a recent shot of a Gulf Fritillary feeding on a Zinnia flower in my backyard garden. They are probably my favorite butterfly, and I always look forward to seeing them each year. Thanks for looking, and comments and suggestions are appreciated. ![]()

6 commentsBeauty, Charlie. The butterfly is gorgeous, and the zinnia is also in near perfect condition. Nice comp and beautiful colors. Excellent all around.
Hi Scott. Thanks very much sir! I do appreciate it. This has been a good year for the fritillaries and zinnias.
Very attractive and colourful image. The fritillaries are also one of my favourites and I would be very pleased to have a shot like this.
Charlie, these are great looking butterflies, can you send a few up to Maryland?
You've got fine details in the bf's body and the flower's center. The colors of the bf and the flower complement each other very nicely. They also stand out well from the background.
Fritillaries are amazing butterflies, and this image certainly shows off what makes them so interesting -- those silvery spots. I see why it's your favorite; I think this species must be the most beautiful of all the North American Fritillaries. Beautiful flower and nice background, too. Well-captured.
Gorgeous butterfly and flower. Sunny and beautiful !
