Here is a photo from today of my favorite butterfly. Every year I look forward to seeing them finally come through my backyard garden! I was pleased to have been able to capture this image. Thanks for looking! Comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated. crying

A very nice image, Charles - beautifully focused on the butterfly to get the detail of body and wings and the antennae.  A slight pity about the plant top L which distracts a little - but that's nature ( and it's a bit messy probably to clone it out )  The background otherwise is handled just right to set off the insect.

Hi Charles,

I like the details in the wings which imply that this monarch is nearing the end of its life.  There's some nice isolation between subject and BG.  Plant top is a slight distraction, but I would not remove it............................Jim

This is a fine look at this Monarch, Charles.  You've got good detail in both the bf and its perch.  The scratched wings say that this one's been around for a while.  The environment is very natural.  My one thought would be to burn in that bright, diagonal stem below the bf so it doesn't attract as much attention, but that's a minor detail on a fine image.

Fine capture of this veteran monarch, Charles. I've never seen one with such scratched wings. Still very attractive in its spread wing pose, and the flowers add pretty pink color to the image. My only suggestion, about the bright brown twig or whatever has been addressed by Mark already.

I like the classic open wing top view, the b-fly is well positioned in the frame Charles.

Great BG that sets em' off well, nice detail/DOF & natural looking colors..

I must agree with Mark concerning the diagonal stem LLC, it detracts a bit.

Well donedevil
