Here's a photo of a barrel racer, which I took at the very small town rodeo in Pagosa Springs, CO. I liked her flying hair and the dust and dirt kicked up by the horses' hooves. Taken with a D750, Sigma 120-300 at 220, 1/2500, f/3.2 and Auto ISO at 2800. I added about 20% canvas to the left side to get the rider more off center. Richard

6 commentsGreat action shot! The flying hair of the rider is what sets this image off from other barrel racer photos I have seen. Well done. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome shot , love the hair and flying dirt really gives the added scene of drama to the event !
Love the detailed stop action Richard!.. And combined with that hair routine it's a great shot.
Techs look right on the money, good call adding the space left to make the comp work best..
I bet this ain't her first rodeo either
Well done
Great action image. Everything you mentioned about the image works together to make this really work. The color of the barrel and the shirt adds a very nice contrast to the brown.
Great action and wonderful color. Nicely done, Richard.
