Every once in awhile one of these will come in to our feeder station and hang around briefly. I haven't seen one at our pond yet this year, which is a bit surprising since it's been a good spot other years. These are woodland birds and I don't think theylike crossing a few hundred feet of prairie to the feeders and pond. I've been trying to rectify that by providing bushes along the way, but it's slow going in our soil.

7 commentsHi Dennis,
I may have to re-examine this one on my callibrated monitor. Overall, a nice image that may need a slight tweak in brightness and contrast. Sharpness and details are very nice................................Jim
The large image sells this to me. No nits. How do you like your 150mm-600mm? Mine is doing fine so far.
Here's a repost with a bit more punch. My wife agreed with Jim that it was a bit dull.

Hi Dennis,
I like the brighter version. The orange on the breast stands out now and the image looks crisper. Well done

Never seen one of these before. The repost is an improvement. Nice detail in the bird. Pleasant perch and bg.
Nice capture of this Grosbeak Dennis. I think the BG color compliments the birds secondary plumage well. I might be tempted to bring up the shadows just a touch around the eye, but think it still is a great shot overall. I also like the re-post better.
Nice smooth complimentary BG, great details/colors & comp in this BOAS.
I caught the Rose-breasted passing by here once or twice, like their sturdy/stocky build and large conical beaks..
If I was a songbird I'd be a Grosbeak
Well done Dennis & have a great weekend
Post Script: I like the repost, but would've left the BG alone bringing up the bird itself.
