Great Blue Heron

Another from my recent James River shoots. I rarely shoot the GBH as I have so many images of them. This one caught my eye as he paraded through low water on the river's edge in nice evening light. I liked the way the light hit him.

Comments and critiques please. Always learning.

Nikon D750 Nikon 200-400 f6.3 1/1600 ISO 2500. I was set for a fast shot of an eagle or osprey when we floated by this GBH.

The light really shows of the deep blue coloring in the Heron. Nice work.

Beautiful image, Andrew. I agree with you that the lighting makes this shot, but you nailed the exposure and focus and caught a very nice pose as well.

Excellent capture. I too like thelight, esp the little pool of water directly underneath the bird.
