While we were having lunch at The View restaurant overlooking the Mittens at Monument Valley, a summer monsoon rain began and produced a rainbow over the Mittens. We finished lunch and pursued to bow out to Effie Yazzie's home where we rushed out of the vehicles to see the bow over the Totem Pole. So far, this is my favorite rainbow image I have taken.

10 commentsI can see why it's your favorite, Doug, it might be mine, too!
The sky could use a bit of noise reduction. Can I go to Effie's house, too???
Wow, what a special moment and unique MV image.
I can see why you like this, Doug. It's nicely intense, in a terrific setting with a fine sky behind the bow.
Very nice, always love a southwest scene.

The warm sky with the reds in the sand are very nice, with the rainbow being the icing on the cake. I really like the blue sky peeking through the clouds as well. Very neat!
Lunch with a spectacular view! Should become a poster in the gift shop. I agree with Dave Edwards about the noise reduction but on close examination of the top third of the photo it appears that much of that noise is actually virga from the summer storm. Really well done.

Thank you for the comments and suggestion about the noise reduction for the sky.
Hey Doug,
Very nice and with a perfect POV,
Congratulations on the WP . . .
The red light makes this a very unusual and dramatic rainbow photo, Doug! Nicely composed and exposed also. Well done!
